Prof. Dr. S. M. Mamun Iqbal is a distinguished cardiologist with over 11 years of experience in interventional cardiology. He currently serves as a Professor of Cardiology at M H Samorita Hospital & Medical College in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he leads the cardiology department, overseeing patient care, academic programs, and clinical research.
Dr. Iqbal obtained his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and later earned his MD in Cardiology from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. His professional journey includes extensive experience in managing complex cardiac cases, performing over 1,500 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), including high-risk and primary PCI cases. He is credited with several pioneering procedures in this institute, such as the first ultra-low contrast left main PCI and the first alcohol septal ablation.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP), the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK), Dr. Iqbal actively contributes to medical education and research. He has received multiple accolades, including the Best-Case Award at TCTAP 2018. His commitment to advancing cardiology is reflected in his contributions to international conferences, research publications, and mentorship of future medical professionals.
