YOUR RIGHTS AS A PATIENT

Patient Rights

  1. Right to proper medical care: You have the right to receive the best care medically indicated for your problem, regardless of age, sex, religion, nationality, race, source of payment, etc. We deliver treatment and care in accordance with international professional standards and healthcare quality.
  2. Right to seek and receive all information necessary to understand your medical condition: You are entitled to know your probable diagnosis, planned course of treatment, and prognosis. You have the right to know the names of your doctors and caregivers, ask questions, and receive answers in a language or format you understand. Designated individuals can represent you if you are unable to make decisions yourself.
  3. Right to be treated respectfully: Your individuality and cultural background will be respected. Your questions will be heard and answered with courtesy and respect.
  4. Right for a second opinion: You may request a second opinion from another doctor or Medical Board if you believe the initial treatment decision is not suitable. We encourage reasonable use of this right.
  5. Right to leave the hospital: You may leave the hospital at any time, even against your doctor’s advice. However, you will be asked to sign a “Discharge Against Medical Advice” form and the hospital will not be liable for any resulting harm.
  6. Right to be free from any restraint or seclusion: You have the right to be free from restraint or seclusion unless medically necessary and approved by written consent. These measures will never be used for staff convenience or discipline.
  7. Right to privacy and medical confidentiality: Your medical privacy is protected. Information about your treatment will not be shared without your consent, except when required by law or for continued medical care.
  8. Right to informed consent: No treatment will be given without your or your family’s informed consent. Your doctor will explain the diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and alternatives clearly to support your decision-making.
  9. Right to access medical information: You may request details of your treatment, including your medical record. If the information might harm your health, your doctor may withhold it, subject to review by the hospital's Ethics Committee.
  10. Right to care under emergency: In a medical emergency, you will receive unconditional treatment. Doctors are obliged to treat or refer you to appropriate facilities. In life-threatening cases, emergency care may proceed even without consent, as per hospital policy.
  11. Right to be informed about cost of treatment: You have the right to receive daily information about hospital bills as per hospital billing policy.
  12. Right to complain: You may file complaints regarding your health plan, doctor(s), waiting time, staff behavior, facilities, or any other concern with the hospital authorities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A PATIENT

Your rights are balanced by your responsibilities as a patient, which can help your caregivers work more efficiently. Please do the following and help yourself, as well as the hospital staff:

  • Be honest with your healthcare providers and inform your physician about your present illness, previous hospitalization details, and any other health-related matters that may help in your treatment. Participate in decision-making and ask questions if you have doubts.
  • Treat hospital staff with respect and consideration. Remember, they often work under stressful conditions. Violence or racial, sexual, or verbal abuse is completely unacceptable.
  • Follow all advice given by your caregivers. If you are concerned or unsure about any instructions, discuss it with your caregiver instead of ignoring it.
  • Take all medications prescribed by your doctor and complete the entire course of treatment as directed.
  • Help improve hospital services by completing the “Feedback Forms” when asked by staff.
  • Use emergency services only for real emergencies, as other seriously ill patients may need them more urgently.
